Chimbel Makes 'Life Move' To Be TLP's Creative Chief

TLPartnership here last week hired Bronner Slosberg Humphrey executive Bob Chimbel to fill a new chief creative officer’s post.
Chimbel will also sit on a five-person management committee that includes president and chief executive Bruce Orr and chief idea officer Cindy Hennessy, both based in Dallas; and David Marchi and Lon Schwear, who manage the promotional shop’s office in Wilton, Conn.
Hennessy said the new post is one the agency has been working to fill since it was spun off from DDB Needham in late 1996. The appointment of Chimbel followed a national search conducted by three personnel recruitment firms.
Chimbel was senior vice president and executive creative director at Boston-based Bronner Slosberg Humphrey.
“Bob was the only candidate with a multidisciplinary background in areas like advertising, promotions, direct marketing and licensing,” Hennessy said.
Chimbel starts March 15. He will oversee about 200 staffers in the creative department and related areas working for clients including Pepsi-Cola, Pizza Hut, Frito-Lay and Federal Express, among others.
“This is a life move,” Chimbel said last week. “This is not the kind of opportunity I could get [at Bronner Slosberg].”
A Bronner Slosberg Hum-phrey employee for nearly three years, Chimbel this summer assumed day-to-day management responsibility for the agency’s 120-person creative department along with Betsy Karp and Steve Olderman.
Chimbel, who at Bronner worked mainly on FedEx, General Motors and IBM personal computer assignments, said he was approached by TLP about three months ago.
He did not sign a noncompete or nonsolicitation contract with his former employer, but takes no business with him to TLP.
