Seeking to calm member banks’ concerns that it is becoming the brand of choice for nonbankers, MasterCard last week named an executive from its rank and file as its top marketer. The nation’s No. 2 credit card brand tapped Daniel Murray, Chemical Bank’s top credit card marketer, as senior vp/marketing, effective Jan 19. Murray fills a vacancy created when Keith Kendrick resigned last April to take a similar position at AT&T’s Universal credit card operation.
