Fahlgren, Parver Form Film Partnership ATLANTA--Fahlgren here has acquired public relations agency Michael Parver Associates, also in Atlanta. With both firms representing a number of motion picture companies, the deal will create one of the larger agencies specializing in that business in the region. Parver will move into Fahlgren's offices by mid-December, when the deal is expected to be finalized. Cramer-Krasselt Gets Transitions Optical ATLANTA--Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago has landed the $1.2 million account of Transitions Optical in Pinellas Park, Fla. The agency will handle consumer and trade public relations and promotions for the client's line of photochromic lenses. C-K's Orlando, Fla., office will assist on the business. Sunbeam Ends Relationship With Ogilvy CHICAGO--Sunbeam Corp. said it has made no plans yet for seeking a new agency after parting with Ogilvy & Mather here. The shop said last week its relationship with the Delray Beach, Fla., firm will conclude when its contract expires at the end of 1998. O&M said Sunbeam had expressed a desire to go in a new advertising direction. It won the Sunbeam and Oster brands in 1996; earlier this year it was given the Mr. Coffee and Coleman lines acquired by Sunbeam. First Alert, another acquired brand, is at Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis. Sunbeam spent $13 million through August 1998, per Competitive Media Reporting. FDA Assigns Marketing Duties to Arnold BOSTON--Following a protracted review, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has tapped Arnold Communications here to handle its marketing communications for the next five years. Budgets are set on a project basis, but annual billings have been pegged as high as $30 million. In the past year, Arnold has created radio, print and collateral for the FDA's Tobacco Compliance Outreach Program in more than 40 states. Mirage Resorts Extends Creative Welcome DALLAS--Mirage Resorts, which confirmed that at least four shops are being considered for creative duties on its estimated $50 million account, has alloted time to screen additional agencies. John Schadler, Mirage's vice president of advertising, said The Richards Group in Dallas; GSD&M of Austin, Texas; Deutsch in New York; and TBWA/Chiat/Day of Playa del Rey, Calif., are not necessarily finalists or the only contenders. Mirage's media buying, at Western International Media in Los Angeles, is not affected. Simon Advances to CD Post in Texas DALLAS--Associate creative director Annette Simon was promoted to creative director at GSD&M in Austin, Texas. She will partner with Rich Terry on the Fannie Mae, On the Border and Lennox accounts. Simon, who joined the agency two years ago, has also worked at McKinney & Silver in Raleigh, N.C.
