BBDO learned recently that working with former world leaders can be trickier than it looks.
After shooting a TV spot (shown here) for Pizza Hut, Mikhail Gorbachev, the former leader of the Soviet Union, initially said he wanted the commercial kept under wraps, sources said.
Agency executives, however, were caught off guard when, unbeknownst to them, Gorbachev called the Moscow bureau of The New York Times and gave an interview about the spot.
BBDO was deluged with requests for the spot, although the footage had not yet been edited.
