A Tovin Helms Citizens Online Unit BOSTON--Hal Tovin has been named president and CEO of Citizens e-Business, a newly launched unit of Citizens Bank charged with exploring ways the bank can exploit the Internet. The move will not affect Holland Mark Edmund Ingalls, Boston, ad agency of record, Tovin said. It is "premature" to say if Holland Mark will also be asked to handle potential campaigns for the e-Business unit, he added. A IDG Launches Darwin as Guide to IT World BOSTON--IDG Communications will launch a new business publication and companion Web site, called Darwin, for business executives who want help understanding information technology. Tagged "Business evolving in the Information Age," Darwin will fill the gap between traditional business media and new-wave Internet magazines. Darwin is the brainchild of IDG president Joe Levy, founder of CIO Communications. He will serve as Darwin CEO; Frank Genovese will serve as publisher. A Wrangler Assigns Media to CIA CPM CHICAGO--Wrangler has assigned its estimated $20 million media account to CIA CPM here, sources said. Agency and client officials could not be reached for comment. Media buying had been handled by The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va. Toth Brand Imaging in Concord, Mass., handles creative for the Greensboro, N.C.-based client. Toth won the account in November, following Wrangler's decision to move its creative from Martin to a smaller shop. A Engage Acquires Flycast, Adsmart From CMGI BOSTON--Engage Technologies, a provider of profile-driven Internet marketing, plans to acquire Adsmart and Flycast Communications from CMGI, which owns a majority of Engage. The transaction increases CMGI's stake in Engage to 87 percent. Paul Schaut will remain CEO of Andover, Mass.-based Engage and the three companies will be fully integrated. Adsmart operates an online advertising network; Flycast provides Internet direct-response advertising. A Allied Wins Universal Business ATLANTA--Universal Pictures has awarded its Southeast and Southwest advertising, publicity and promotions accounts to Allied Advertising and Public Relations and Alvin Guggenheim and Associates, respectively. The regional accounts, with an estimated combined worth of $8-10 million, were previously handled in-house. Allied, based in Boston, will open offices in Atlanta and South Florida to manage the business. Guggenheim is based in Houston. A Subway $90 Million Media Account in Play LOS ANGELES--Search firm AAR/Bob Wolf Partners will present Subway with a recommended list of contenders for its $90 national media buying and planning account. Final presentations to executives at the Milford,Conn.-based sandwich chain's are scheduled for Feb. 9-10. Subway launched a search for a media agency after parting with incumbent Publicis & Hal Riney, Chicago, concurrent with a creative search scheduled to be completed in March.
