Many major radio stations are retreating from Internet streaming. Stations owned by Clear Channel Communications, Emmis Communications, Radio One, ABC/Disney and others began removing the live listening option from their Web sites Saturday and Sunday.

Several stations that took this action posted messages like the one on KFI-AM’s site: “Due to recent issues regarding additional fees for the playing of radio commercials over the Internet, we have been forced to temporarily disable our streaming of KFI-AM 640.
