Greenberg, Devine Tap PR Chiefs BOSTON--Deborah Picardi has been appointed director of public relations at Greenberg Seronick O'Leary & Partners here from FOX 25 TV, Boston, where she held a similar position. Picardi, who will be responsible for both public relations and new business development, begins work with one client: Cambridge Savings Bank. Separately, Devine & Pearson Communications in Quincy, Mass., has named Jane Kuby director of public relations. Kuby was vice president of public relations at Mason & Madison in New Haven, Conn., working in the Boston office on the Bell Atlantic Mobile account. Cashman & Katz to Clear the Air BOSTON--Cashman & Katz, Glastonbury, Conn., recently launched a campaign for the Connecticut Automobile Inspection Requirement to educate consumers about the state's new laws for automobile emissions testing. The six-figure campaign was commissioned by the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, which has contracted with Envirotest in Sunnyvale, Calif., to conduct the tests. Cashman & Katz is handling media planning and buying chores as well as creating radio spots, print ads, collateral materials and a public relations effort. Ad Club Awards Diversity BOSTON--The Advertising Club of Greater Boston's Ad Club Foundation and the Boston Chamber of Commerce have named Trinity Communications and BankBoston this year's winners of the Arnold Z. Rosoff Award for Achievement in Workforce Diversity. This year marks the first time two companies were honored. Trinity won for businesses employing less than 100; BankBoston won for companies with more than 100 employees. The two Boston companies will be feted on Oct. 27 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. CPS Direct Advances Vadala BOSTON--CPS Direct in Woburn, Mass., has named Nick Vadala chief executive officer from chief operating officer, said founder and chairman John Bell. Vadala joined CPS in 1994 from Rapp Collins Worldwide. The direct marketing agency's client list includes BankBoston, National Geographic Society and Keane Inc. Merrill Associates Launches Survey Product BOSTON--Sharon Merrill Associates has begun marketing StreetScope, a new benchmark survey. A team from Merrill Associates that specializes in investor relations will research and analyze perceptions of a public company and devise a report including strategic recommendations and verbatim comments. The service will be offered to nonclient companies. WCRB Owner Names Campbell CEO BOSTON--Charles River Broadcasting Co. last week named William Campbell chief executive officer. Charles River Broadcasting owns and operates two classical FM stations: WCRB in Boston and WFCC on Cape Cod. He joined WCRB in 1997 as general manager.
