Bates Churchill Public Relations has assimilated the employees and clients of The Tate Agency into its own ranks following the death of the latter shop’s president.

Marketing veteran Judy Katrana, who purchased Tate in 1997, died earlier this yearfollowing an illness.

Tate’s five employees join Bates Churchill, a unit of Bates Southwest, adding significantly to the Houston publicrelations firm’s projected income. Tate had revenue of $1 million in 1999, compared with Bates Churchill’s income of about $2 million.

“Tate clients willcontinue to be serviced by the same account team,” said Judi Martin, president of Bates Churchill.
