The “talk of the town” this week was the abrupt halting of Talk magazine production. The Tina Brown-powered pop publication made a splash, previewing August 1999 with a 670,000 circulation and a high-profile party that had people, well, talking. But this week, Talk Media suspended publication the magazine effective with the February 2002 issue currently on newsstands. And though production was underway for March, Miramax and Hearst, co-financers of Talk, withdrew financing.

Brown was chair of Talk Miramax Books, owned solely and operated by Miramax Films.
