Wunderman Cato Johnson, New York, appointed Kevin Lavan executive vice president, worldwide finance and technology officer. He was previously senior vice president, finance at Young & Rubicam. Earle Palmer Brown, New York, has tapped managing director Susan Palombo to head the newly formed Women's Insights Group. The Association of Independent Commercial Producers has selected a panel to judge entries to "The Art & Technique of the American Television Commercial," debuting June 9 at New York's Museum of Modern Art. Linda Batycki was elevated to account executive at Eric Mower and Associates, Buffalo from production manager. Fairbrother and Co., Chatham, added Maureen Vedder as vice president, account supervisor. She had been vice president, director of marketing at Evergreen Bank. Brand consultancy Wolff Olins, New York, added John Diefenbach as partner. He had previously been chief executive of Landor Associates and a founder of Diefenbach Elkins. Heide Mathien joined Mitchell DeTine & Neiler, Buffalo, as public relations coordinator. She had been an account executive at Design for Industry. Also, public relations director Trina Tardone was appointed to the Buffalo Citizens' Advisory Committee on Community Improvement. Kathleen Kenney joined public relations agency PepperCom, New York, as vice president, director of technology services. Most recently, she was manager of public relations for emerging technologies at IBM Personal Systems Group and IBM Research Worldwide. New York production house Spontaneous Combustion hired Adam Gascoyne, a flame and smoke artist who previously worked at The Framestore in London. OgilvyOne Consulting, New York, has appointed Margaret Young general manager. She was previously vice president of marketing at Parlance Corp. Martha Brady advanced to chief executive officer of Intercosmetics, New York, a division of the Wella Fragrance and Cosmetics Group. She had been president and chief operating officer of the company. Prada appointed Joachim Oster creative director of a New York-based business development unit. Oster has worked in the creative departments at Young & Rubicam, Ogilvy & Mather, Saatchi & Saatchi and N. W. Ayer & Partners, all in New York. Robin Naylor moved up to national sales manager at Women's Sports and Fitness, New York. Health and beauty aids manager Lynn Faherty, account manager Dawn Byck and beauty and entertainment account managers Maria Jakubek and Lois Lissemore also joined the magazine. Forbes, New York, promoted Jessica Sibley to the newly created position of financial advertising manager. Also, Avery Stirratt advanced to New York advertising manager. She most recently served as director, special projects at Glamour. NEW JERSEY Joseph Epner joined Dugan Valva Contess, Morristown, as senior vice president, business development. He was a partner at Einson Freeman in Paramus. Morristown's Morbelli, Russo & Partners hired Tom Balchunas as creative supervisor. Eric Ortiz was also named assistant art director; he had worked as an intern at MR&P for a year and a half.
