An AI platform has been developed to persuade spammers to consider a career change in a bid to combat the rising problem in Russia of nuisance calls.

The initiative is part of the “Help the Spammers” campaign for the education platform Skillbox alongside online financial system Tinkoff. “Oleg” was developed to listen to cold callers before offering them career advice instead of blocking them.

Developed by creative agency Slava, the aim of the campaign is to counter the statistic that 70% of incoming calls in Russia are found to be spam, according to Kaspersky Labs, despite the use of anti-spam bots.

Oleg is a free-to-use service launched at the start of February that has been made available to subscribers of any mobile operator and smartphone operating system users who can connect to the platform through the project website.
