Twitter API v2 (application-programming interface) is now the platform’s official primary API, and updates revealed this week make it easier for people to sign up for developer accounts and add two new access levels for data.

The social network unveiled Twitter API v2—the first complete overhaul of its API since 2012—last July, and its official rollout began last August.

Developer platform business lead Sonya Penn and senior director of product management Amir Shevat said in a blog post that nearly all existing apps are fully supported by v2 and, while v1.1
