(Press Release) NEW YORK, NY (April 22, 2010)—The winners of the 2010 National Magazine Awards were announced tonight at the annual awards gala at Alice Tully Hall in New York City. Glamour won top honors as Magazine of the Year. New York won four awards, including the award for General Excellence, 250,000 to 500,000 Circulation.
Other multiple-award winners were:
* National Geographic, which won three awards, including General Excellence, Over 2 Million Circulation
* The New Yorker, which also won three awards, including the award for Public Interest for Atul Gawande’s “The Cost Conundrum”
* Wired, which won two awards, including the award for Design for the third year in a row
Known as the Ellies, for the Alexander Calder stabile “Elephant” given to each winner, the gala was attended by nearly 700 magazine editors and publishers.
