As old video tends to do, at least one Suntory Reserve Whisky ad directed by Akira Kurosawa, and featuring Francis Ford Coppola, surfaced recently on YouTube. Allegedly filmed while Kurosawa was shooting Kagemusha, which was released in 1980, one classic scene in the three-and-a-half-minutes currently on YouTube shows Kurosawa and Coppola, who served as Kagemusha‘s producer, sipping Suntory as the voiceover (in Japanese) intones: “There’s no stronger friendship than that between these two men.” Is it mere coincidence that some 23 years later, Coppola’s daughter would direct Lost
