Netflix has always enjoyed dipping into the real world for its House of Cards marketing. Most famously, it did so with the “FU 2016” campaign via BBH, which included running a campaign ad for Frank Underwood during a Republican presidential debate in December 2015.

Now, as Season 5 approaches, the show is again delightfully blurring the lines between real and fictional by getting Pete Souza, the former chief official White House photographer for President Obama as well as Ronald Reagan, to shoot candid shots—which, frankly, were more than likely at least a little staged—of Underwood (played by Kevin Spacey) and Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) around Washington, D.C.
