Gillette picks some winners for ‘Fast Cars’

Gillette
Two celebs stand out among the dozen slated to appear on ABC’s Fast Cars & Superstars: Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race. As previously noted, skateboard champ Tony Hawk and super-surfer Laird Hamilton are taking part—but the truly sweet signings are William Shatner and Jewel. Consider: The iconic thespian behind Captain Kirk, T.J. Hooker, Denny Crane and countless Priceline commercials will get behind the wheel of a race car. As will fading pop poetess Jewel. Both should be good for some priceless hyperbole. One can almost hear Shatner’s trademark delivery: “My-brakes-don’t-work!” as he and Jewel collide head on. The latter put it best in one of her many hits: “Dreams last for so long/Even after you’re gone.” But ultimately, only branded entertainment remains. (That might actually be one of Shatner’s songs. I get the two of them confused.)
