If you don’t know Hebru Brantley, he is a Chicago-born comic-book style artist who has exhibited his work featuring iconic-looking characters, described as “Afro-futurism,” all around the world—and recently teamed with Adidas to release a special trainer range.
Those classic characters Frogboy and Rocket were created to express a desire for freedom, solidarity and convey a determination to overcome life’s obstacles.
With a dedicated campaign, the classic Jacques Chassaing-designed Adidas Forum basketball shoe has become a platform to develop the Hebru Brantley x Adidas Forum Low Light Blue design, which was released in mid-July.
The light blue trainers include the iconic black Adidas three stripes, while also featuring Brantley’s illustrated shark character Rocket on the tongue tab in place of the usual brand logo.
