Oscar Ratings Rebound From Last Year’s Record-Low, With 16.6 Million Viewers

The numbers were up 58% from 2021, but couldn’t match 2020’s tally

After plummeting to its lowest-ever ratings last year, the Oscars have bounced back.

The 94th Academy Awards averaged 15.4 million total viewers and a 3.2 rating in the key adults 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen’s fast national numbers released on Monday. Update: Those numbers rose to 16.6 million total viewers and a 3.8 demo rating, after Nielsen’s final numbers came in on Tuesday.

That’s a hefty increase of 58% in total viewers and 73% in the demo compared to 2021’s record lows.
