Remember ESPN Classic? Disney, which has been steadily moving away from programming and distributing the channel over the past decade, is going to shut down the network officially early next year.

The company has begun telling its carriage partners that it plans to officially shut down the network on Jan 1, 2022, an ESPN spokesperson tells Adweek.

The news was first reported by Sports Business Journal.

ESPN Classic originally launched as the Classic Sports Network in 1995 before ESPN acquired the channel in 1997.
