Global experience agency Huge today announced the appointment of Dick de Lange as managing director and global head of planning. De Lange served as chief strategy officer of North America at Young & Rubicam before leaving in January.

When his resignation was announced in December, a Y&R spokesperson said de Lange was leaving “to pursue another opportunity” but declined to elaborate.

That opportunity will see de Lange developing, building and executing brand, marketing and communications strategies for Huge’s global clients, the agency said in a statement.

He also will be responsible for “establishing the overarching vision for the discipline at Huge, internally and externally,” according to the statement.

“I’ve long admired Huge’s ability to boldly create products, services and experiences people love and am thrilled to be joining the team to help accelerate growth in this next phase of their evolution,” de Lange said.

De Lange, who will be based in Huge’s Brooklyn office, joined Y&R New York as chief strategy officer in 2014 and was promoted to chief strategy officer for North America the following year. He left the agency at the same time Y&R global strategy officer Sandy Thompson did too.

Before Y&R, de Lange was the group strategy lead at R/GA and has had various stints at JWT New York, Saatchi & Saatchi New York and DDB’s Sydney, Chicago and Amsterdam shops.
