Franz Ferdinand has lent its music to all sorts of ad campaigns around the world: for Tennent’s lager in Scotland, mobile phones in Italy, an MP3 player in Japan. But the Glasgow, Scotland, band is drawing a line at the U.S. market, having reportedly turned down an offer to sell a song to a mystery American company for a $50 million ad campaign. “We’d have been completely surrendering if we had done that,” frontman Alex Kapranos tells The Scotsman.
