As any high-profile media event does, the death of Pope John Paul II has brought out the advertisers. In terms of paid search, Googling “Pope” or “Pope John Paul II” yields the usual ad suspects, including The New York Times and Washington Post, pushing their special tribute packages, as well as a rosary-bead marketer and a prayer site operated by the Franciscan Friars. Other cameos were more interesting. Catholic dating service CatholicPeopleMeet.com has a paid-search listing that offers “1000’s of pictures of Beautiful Catholic Singles.”
