Starbucks has begun its annual holiday effort, focusing, as we guess is their custom, on random acts of kindness. The company is handing out free subway passes in New York and giving away cab rides in Boston and San Francisco. It’s also reprising the “coffee on cars” promo, in which people drive around with a Starbucks cup on their roof until someone tips them off, with the tipster getting a free cup of coffee.
