As they elbow their way along the crowded thoroughfares today, New Yorkers may notice a certain fragrance in the air. No, it’s not garbage. Nor is it the stench of bitter defeat, unless you’re passing Yankee Stadium. Bloomingdale’s flagship store is promoting Donna Karan’s DKNY Delicious Night perfume this week by dispersing the scent around 59th Street and Lexington Avenue. “Spraying a fragrance into the air isn’t practical for most advertisers,” notes The Wall Street Journal, dumbing down its level of discourse even before the News Corp.
