Democratic consultant James Carville and Republican consultant Mary Matalin are on the road to becoming advertising's "it" couple—that is, when brands want a commercial that weds their product to marital bickering and cheesy political tie-ins. In a new spot for Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating, Carville, 67, and Matalin, 59—married since 1993—argue over the state of the thermostat, lobbing hot-button puns at each other. It's a more sober debate than the pair's recent work for Maker's Mark, but nothing seems to light a populist fire in Carville's belly like Miracle Whip.
