Microsoft worked with Interbrand to come up with the name Bing for its search engine. It's supposed to evoke the "aha" moment of finding what you're looking for (and no, it has nothing to do with Chandler Bing from Friends). The name provoked plenty of chatter when Bing launched. But perhaps the most unexpected feedback came from a 99-year-old man named Richard J. Bing, a retired cardiologist who wrote to Microsoft asking if he could help in any way, seeing as how they'd used his name.
