The Oprah Winfrey Network has tapped Jennifer Giddens to join the cable network—co-owned by Discovery Inc. and Harpo Studios—as its new head of marketing.
In her new role, Giddens will oversee strategic marketing for OWN’s programming and its growing podcast portfolio. (In 2017, Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations podcast sold out all of its advertising slots in just 24 hours.)
Giddens, who will report to network president Tina Perry, will also work closely with the ad sales team.
Perry noted in a statement that Giddens has an extensive background delivering 360-degree marketing campaigns across numerous high-profile entertainment brands.
“Giddens’ vast expertise will help us reach our passionate audience in new and exciting ways and we are thrilled to have her join the OWN team,” Perry said.
Most recently, Giddens was the head of global creative marketing of the kids and family division at Netflix. She previously worked as the svp of marketing and digital at NBCUniversal’s Universal Kids, and was vp of marketing at that network’s previous iteration, Sprout. Prior to that, she was senior director of entertainment and branding at Turner Broadcasting.
