Calm down, everyone. Netflix isn't suddenly following Hulu's lead and running ads as part of its service.
Earlier today, the Internet virtually freaked out—i.e., reacted in its usual way—after a few reports indicated that Netflix was experimenting with running "pre-roll ads" before its shows. The outrage, however, was unfounded—the streaming service was actually airing teasers for other Netflix shows, and that's a far cry from moving toward an advertiser-based model, something the company has long been against.
