Save-the-animals ads might do better if the upside to humans were a bit more clear. For example, here’s a compelling message: Save the crabs, so you can continue to enjoy their cooked flesh dipped in butter. That’s The Chesapeake Club’s call to action as it asks people in the D.C. area to stop using so much lawn fertilizer, which is draining off and suffocating blue crabs in Chesapeake Bay.
