More ways to protect innocent moviegoers

You likely saw the news last week that the movie industry’s ratings board will take into account scenes of onscreen smoking when handing out ratings—though it won’t, as some anti-tobacco agitators had urged, assign an automatic R to movies that include any smoking at all. Of course, all sorts of onscreen activity can exert a negative influence on impressionable kids. AdFreak urges you to e-mail the Motion Picture Association of America with your list of behaviors that should earn a movie a restrictive rating. I’d include scenes in which characters go in the water without waiting an hour after eating.
