Leppard band advertises for 1-arm drummer

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen lost his left arm in a car accident when he was 21, during the group's '80s heyday, but he bravely soldiered on to keep the beat on subsequent tours and albums. Now, Dallas-based Leppard tribute band Pyromania, sticklers for authenticity, are advertising for a one-armed drummer—posting an earnestly freaky flyer that begins by misspelling Def Leppard's name. I guess the real group hadn't mangled the words quite enough for these guys. "No prosthetics," the ad further stipulates. It's an open question if one-armed drummers with peg legs can apply. These dedicated dudes even fly in the face of rock-band convention by stipulating that "no dope fiends" will be hired. Oh, a "flame-retardant" drum kit is also required, so clubs better make sure their fire insurance is paid up before the band hits the stage. This heroically ham-fisted ad deserves a round of applause. Or at least the sound of one hand clapping. See the full flier after the jump.
UPDATE: The position has been filled! The Dallas Observer called the number on the ad and got this voice message: "If you're calling about the Dallas-based Def Leppard tribute band Pyromania, we found our one-armed drummer, and I want to thank everyone who auditioned, but the position is filled."
Meanwhile, another Def Leppard tribute band, also named Pyromania and also quite spelling-challenged, is distancing itself from this stunt. "We are not looking for a drummer and feel [this] is in VERY BAD TASTE!!" they write on their Web site. "Please do not confuse us with this complete discusting and disrespectful behaviour."
