WGN America, which has been focused on entertainment and sports for most of its lifespan, is preparing to go all-in on news.

The Nexstar Media Group cable network will rebrand as NewsNation and expand its weeknight news programming from three hours to five hours beginning March 1, it said today.

The move comes just four months after the network debuted its three-hour NewsNation block in September, which airs from 8-11 p.m. ET. Earlier this month, WGN America had said it would replace the 10 p.m.
