The New York Times
reports this morning that Charles Saatchi’s Stuart initiative (short for “student art,” not an homage to Stuart Elliott), described as a MySpace for artists, is causing “something of a sensation,” with over 20,000 artists now displaying their work. All of the art is for sale, and for now, it’s a completely non-profit destination. There are no middlemen taking a commission. If our attempts to get on the site this morning are any indication, recognition by the Times is causing a crisis for the venture’s servers, but might be fun to check out once things calm down.
