With Game of Thrones: Build Your Realm, fans can collect unique avatars inspired by the HBO series. These Game of Thrones NFTs will be bundled with a pack of digital collectibles in the initial sale, allowing users to embark on a virtual journey and upgrade digital avatars.

According to the companies, the multi-chapter program will continue through thematic activities, on-site engagement and additional digital collectibles. These collectibles will be available as assorted packs and come in a variety of types, including equipables such as weapons, companions or gear, which allow fans to customize and strengthen their avatar. Other collectible types will include iconic moments, locations and characters from Game of Thrones, letting collectors build their own virtual realms.

“Our goal, as always, with the fans is to create new ways for them to interact with the stories and characters they love,” Josh Hackbarth, head of NFT commercial development for Warner Bros Discovery, said in a statement. “We’re excited to expand the Game of Thrones fandom and franchise with this unique digital collectible program that’ll engage fans on a deeper level, allowing them to immerse into the world of Westeros and enhance the overall fan experience.”

Throughout the program, varying themed packs will also be available for purchase for upgrades and digital mementos.

Daz 3D is collaborating on the design, development and production of the Game of Thrones collection.

Bottom line

Game of Thrones is just Warner Bros. Discovery’s latest foray into the world of NFTs.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment previously announced it was teaming with blockchain company Eluvio to launch The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Web3 movie experience. This was the first time a major studio released a film as NFTs.

HBO also expanded Game of Thrones’ digital footprint earlier this year with House of the Dragon: DracARys. The AR app allows fans to become their own version of the Mother of Dragons by raising a digital dragon of their own.
