Amazon Originals’ anticipated television series based on The Lord of the Rings finally has a release date. The show, which has been in the works since 2017 when it was first announced, will arrive on Prime Video on Sept. 2, 2022, according to Amazon, which also shared the first image from the series.

The show, which has yet to get an official title, is based loosely on J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved Lord of the Rings and Hobbit books but takes place thousands of years before the events of those titles.
