Radio Ratings: Dial Global at Top of Pack

Dial Global’s radio networks continued to dominate the ratings rankers among the 56 networks measured by Radar, Arbitron’s network radio ratings service. In the December report released Monday (Dec. 14), Dial Global had three of the top five-rated networks in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 and half of the top 10 networks among the two critical demo groups.

Two networks, Dial Global and Westwood One, realigned some of the networks included in the new report. Premiere’s realigned networks will debut in the next report to be released in March 2009.

With a couple of exceptions, there was little change among the top-ranked networks between the September and December report, despite network changes. Westwood One’s new Adult Network debuted in the No. 5 spot among Adults 25-54 and was No. 12 in Adults 18-49.

United Stations’ Impact Network, which broke into the top 10 ranks in the last report, moved up in rank, from No. 10 to No. 8 among Adults 25-54 and from No. 8 to No. 5 among Adults 18-49.

Premiere Radio Networks rounded out the top-ranked networks with three of the top 10 networks among Adults 25-54 and four of the top 10 networks among Adults 18-49. Premiere Male Focus Network continued to be the network’s highest-rated network, ranked No. 3 among Adults 25-54 and ranked No. 4 among Adults 18-49.

The December report covers the period Sept. 18, 2008 to Sept. 16, 2009. It’s the eighth report to include data from both Arbitron’s portable people meter and diary ratings services.
