Artists Turn Apple's 'Shot on iPhone' Photos Into Whimsical Scenes

TBWA\Media Arts Lab gathered global creators to cross-promote the iPhone and iPad.

A picture is worth a thousand words, according to a saying that has its roots in the advertising world of the 1920s. So what if a piece of original art gets layered on top of that image—does it then speak volumes?

Apple thinks so, with the brand building its newest campaign around the mashup of photos and illustrations. For the work, called “Shot on iPhone, Drawn on iPad,” Apple recruited 13 photographers and eight illustrators from India, Germany, Spain, Korea, Thailand, the U.S. and UK.

A yawning kitten gets an unlikely dental checkup when Apple brings together photographers and illustrators for its newest campaign.

The resulting ads, which will run as out-of-home billboards and via digital channels, aim to be a “celebration of creativity that pairs the power of iPhone photography with artistry enabled by iPad,” per longtime agency TBWA\Media Arts Lab.
