Prime Video has unveiled a head-spinning look at its upcoming The Wheel of Time series: a 360-degree trailer that creates a virtual three-dimensional “wheel.”

The unique trailer, available on YouTube’s 360 player, touts the Amazon streamer’s fantasy series based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling fantasy novels. The first three episodes will debut on Friday, Nov 19, with new episodes released each following Friday, through the season finale on Dec 24.

The trailer follows Moiraine, played by Rosamund Pike, who is part of a powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in a small town called Two Rivers. She then sets out on a dangerous journey with five other people, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.

Beyond the traditional two-dimensional trailer, the left of the screen (or “wheel”) features Moriaine’s “One Power” channeling, showcasing her voice with faces, and artifacts and symbols embedded in the energy weaves. The right side represents the corruption of the Dark One and a fall into madness.

The trailer also includes spatial audio which will give viewers a more immersive auditory experience as objects appear from each side of the “wheel.”

More than 90 million books have been sold of Jordan’s Wheel of Time series.

Amazon hopes that The Wheel of Time will join the ranks of other popular fantasy series based on hit books, including HBO’s Game of Thrones and Netflix’s The Witcher. And Prime Video itself has an even bigger fantasy series on the way: its Lord of the Rings series will debut next year.
