To celebrate the kickoff of the United States Football League, broadcast partners Fox and NBC will do something that hasn’t occurred on TV in 55 years: simulcast a sports competition on two broadcast networks.

NBC and Fox will televise the USFL’s inaugural game, between the New Jersey Generals and the Birmingham Stallions, on April 16 at 7:30 p.m. ET. It will be the first simulcast sports competition to air on two competitive broadcasters since NBC and CBS teamed up for Super Bowl 1 on Jan.
