Nebraska-Based Indie Agency Bailey Lauerman Expands to Los Angeles

New office grows the agency's footprint

The West Coast ad agency scene just got a little more crowded.

Bailey Lauerman, an independent agency based in Omaha, Nebraska, has opened its first expansion office in Los Angeles. Chantal Sagnes, who most recently served as director of business development at New York’s co:collective, will lead the office as managing partner and group account director.

“LA doesn’t need another agency, but it could probably use a few with a more respectful and authentic understanding of middle-America,” said CEO Greg Andersen, the former RAPP president who returned to his hometown of Omaha to run Bailey Lauerman late last year. “Our expansion there, coupled with Chantal’s experience and inherent understanding of and respect for our Midwest roots, is a strategic step in our growth strategy.”

Sagnes’ background working for entertainment-focused firms like 42West and 3 Arts Entertainment made her an ideal choice to facilitate strategic L.A.-based partnerships with groups like United Talent Agency. “I’m really looking forward to providing new perspectives to the agency’s already impressive client roster, and bringing our collective expertise together to nurture new business opportunities,” she said.

“Our roots remain in Nebraska and they always will,” Andersen added. “But having a presence in Los Angeles allows us to provide a looking glass into America from the West Coast.” The move also places agency teams closer to clients like Panda Express and Sun Pacific, grower of Cuties clementines and Mighties kiwis.

Earlier this year, Andersen spoke to Adweek about the aforementioned “middle-America” strategy that has helped the 47-year-old agency win such clients as Bass Pro Shops, Phillips 66 Lubricants, The Smithsonian and more. Bailey Lauerman’s best-known work may be “Visit Nice” and other award-winning campaigns promoting the Nebraska Tourism Commission.

London-based Mother was the last agency to announce its L.A. expansion plans in December. The area’s largest shops currently include TBWA\Chiat\Day, Media Arts Lab, Deutsch, 72andSunny, David&Goliath and 180LA, which recently made plans to move from its longtime Santa Monica headquarters to nearby Playa Vista’s “Silicon Beach” corporate campus.
