Spike Picks Up Off-Net Rights to Meteor, 'Storm'

Spike TV has snatched up the off-net rights to the apocalyptic NBC miniseries Meteor and The Storm, with an eye toward running both programs at the tail end of August.

The Viacom-owned cable network plans to leverage its latest acquisitions as a means to promote its upcoming unscripted series Surviving Disaster. Bowing Sept. 1, the one-hour program offers viewers guidance on how to walk away from all manner of deadly situations, including bioterrorism, shark attacks, plane crashes and earthquakes.
