Viewers Flip for Bravo's Jersey Girls

Viewers flipped out over the season finale of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, as Tuesday night’s capper scared up 3.47 million viewers at 10 p.m.

Punctuated by cries of “whore!” and the very public upending of a dinner table, the one-hour finale delivered 2.46 million viewers 18-49, notching Bravo’s best Tuesday night demo number since 2003.

An 11 p.m. encore drew another 1.13 million viewers, giving Bravo a cume of 4.6 million viewers over the course of the two hours. Moreover, some 794,000 viewers 18-49 came by for Jersey seconds, for a grand total of 3.25 million members of the core demo.

Housewives helped Bravo win the night among the core TV demo, per Nielsen, an assessment that includes 18-49 deliveries across broadcast and cable.

Its first season on the books, The Real Housewives of New Jersey now ranks as the most popular installment of the franchise, averaging 1.6 million adults 18-49 and 2.17 million total viewers over the course of six episodes. A two-part reunion special, a lost-footage clip show and a “re-mix” of the finale, featuring new commentary and a freshly-shot coda, are also in the pipeline.

The flagship series, The Real Housewives of Orange Country, bowed March 21, 2006 and was followed in short order by spin-offs in Atlanta, New York and North Jersey. A fifth Real Housewives project set in Washington, D.C., is also in the works.
