Instagram launched live videostreaming for all users in January through Instagram Stories. This feature allows users to broadcast live videos, which disappear from the application after they end. If you’ve yet to try this feature yourself, our guide will help you get started. Note: These screenshots were captured in the Instagram app on iOS.
Step 1: Tap the Camera icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
Step 2: Swipe from left to right at the bottom of the screen to switch from “Normal” to “Live.” Note: The device’s rear-facing camera is activated by default, but if you’d like to broadcast using the front-facing camera, tap the circular arrows at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3: Tap “Start Live Video.” Once the app checks your connection, it will begin the livestream.
During the livestream, you can tap the three dots in the bottom-right corner of the screen to bring up a button that allows you to turn off commenting.
To end the livestream, tap “End” in the top-right corner of the screen. Then tap “End Live Video.”
