Former CNNer Christa Robinson Hired by Tribune

News net vet will report to Peter Liguori

With ex-Discovery COO Peter Liguori now in charge at Tribune, the company is hiring a chief communications officer in the person of longtime CNN staffer Christa Robinson, who worked at the Turner news network from 1999 until earlier this year.

“Christa brings a depth of experience in media, corporate communications and government affairs that will be vital in this new role,” said Liguori in a statement to press. “I am delighted to have her join our senior management team as we gear up for a transformative 2014 at Tribune.”

Robinson's experience includes a stint in the Clinton White House as director communications for its domestic policy council; she was also that administration's liaison to the law enforcement community. "“The strength of the company's legacy media brands, combined with the expansion of broadcasting and new content initiatives, create a tremendous opportunity to position Tribune for its next successful chapter," said Robison.

She will work out of the company's New York offices. The company's current head of communications, Gary Weitman, will continue to work out of Tribune's Chicago headquarters.
