Eureka Nabs Key Demo Win for SyFy

SyFy on Friday revved up the second half of season three of its original series Eureka, drawing 2.58 million total viewers at 9 p.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day ratings.

The episode drew 1.32 million adults 25-54, making it cable’s most-watched program among the demo during the time period. Eureka also averaged 1.06 million viewers 18-49, an increase of 23 percent versus the Sept. 23, 2008, mid-season finale.

While Eureka put up decent numbers for a Friday night, the show has lost some steam since its debut on Tuesday, July 18, 2006. The two-hour series opener scared up 4.05 million viewers, making it the second most-watched launch in Sci Fi Channel/SyFy history. (On July 16, 2004, the premiere of Stargate Atlantis drew 4.19 million viewers.)

Last week marked the network’s debut under its refurbished SyFy banner. In addition to the new brand, on July 7 SyFy took the wraps off the original series Warehouse 13, drawing 3.5 million viewers.
