Harry & Meghan Is Highest-Rated Netflix Program in U.K. This Year

Harry & Meghan is Netflix’s highest-rated Netflix program in the U.K. year to-date.

As reported by Deadline, the docuseries had 2.4 million views on smart TV’s during its first day on Netflix. The second episode pulled in 1.5 million streams and the third episode has 800,00 streams. Harry & Meghan also surpassed the Season 5 opening episode of The Crown, which had 1.1 million streams by comparison.

The documentary has already courted controversy in the UK. Jennie Bond, the UK royal correspondent labeled the program as “extremely sloppy production values and ITV’s Lorraine Kelly said the use of certain images in Harry & Meghan as “bizarre.”

Tory MP Bob Seely told The Daily Mail that the Duke and and Duchess of Sussex should be stripped of their royal titles, accusing them of monetizing their status. Seely is proposing a Private Members’ Bill that would give the Privy Council the power to do so.

Meghan and Harry signed an exclusive multi-year deal with Netflix in 2020 with their production company, Archewell Productions to create documentaries, feature films and children’s programming. Upcoming projects include Hearts of Invictus, a docu-series that follows the stories of resilience of competitors on their journey to Invictus Games The Hague 2020.

The first three episodes of Harry & Meghan are available to stream on Netflix. The remaining three episodes will be available on December 15.
