2012 has arrived and, as promised, YouTube has begun rolling out the first of around 100 professional content channels from well-known personalities and content producers. Earlier this week they launched a couple of new entertainment channels and a Reuters TV channel, complete with regularly scheduled programming. Now they’ve also launched a whole slew of new action sports channels, featuring big names like Tony Hawk, Jamie Thomas and more.
YouTube Strategic Partner Development Manager, Tim Katz, announced four new action sports Channels on the YouTube blog. The channels span sports from skateboarding to urban mountain biking, surfing, skiing, snowboarding, BMX and more. The full line up is as follows:
AlliSports – AlliSports will feature daily videos with your favorite action sports athletes including interviews, tips, instructional videos and more.
Network A – Network A is “YouTube’s home for the history and future of action sports.” They’ll be featuring the biggest names in skate, snow, surf, ski, BMX and more, including videos from producers like Nigel Alexander, Videograss, Poor Boyz Productions, Sterling Spencer and more.

With all this new original content it looks like YouTube is about to become home to the biggest hub of extreme sports video content anywhere. Action sports fans are a huge niche and with all these major athletes taking part, these channels are sure to bring in massive amounts of traffic to the video site.
