Last week a single video was uploaded to a brand new YouTube account. The video quickly took off and just one week later it has over 1 million views. The video features a baby rocking out on the guitar, with skills far beyond his years.
When the video first started taking off, it caused a lot of viewers to raise an eyebrow—of course this baby’s skills are impossible, but could this be real? Of course, it’s a hoax. The truth behind the video has now been exposed in blogs like Adweek’s Adreak, Great-Ads and more. It is an amazing campaign for Ubisoft’s Rocksmith, if you hadn’t already figured it out from the ‘Rocksmith’ screen on the TV at the end of the video.
Now, it seems crazy that anyone would even think that there was a possibility that something like this could be real. The real punch from this viral hoax comes from the fact that it just looks so darn real. I mean, we’re all used to campaigns like Evian’s Dancing Babies and Gerber’s recent Toddler campaign, both of which look real enough for laughs, but would never be actually mistaken for the real thing.
This video of a baby playing a Rocksmith guitar is so well made that it blows those other campaigns out of the water. I can’t wait to see if they introduce more videos for this Rocksmith campaign. Love it!
