Changes Are Coming To Twitter's Direct Messages

Good news for those who have been pulling their hair out over Twitter’s clunky Direct Message system: the company has announced that it’s revamping the way you send your private messages.

In a tweet, Twitter’s support account announced that it is upgrading its Android and iOS apps to offer users a more consistent DM experience.

For starters, this update should solve a major problem with Twitter’s mobile experience not meshing with its web experience: When users deleted DMs on Android or iOS, they would reappear on the web.

The update will also enable mobile users to view their entire DM history on their smartphones.

With the rise in popularity of social messaging apps, like Facebook’s WhatsApp, it’s no wonder that Twitter would begin focusing on DMs. Private messaging on Twitter has been a much-ignored feature, and one that the company can no longer afford to ignore if it wants to compete.
