Facebook Top 10 Lists From Australia

The Melbourne Cricket Ground was the site of the most check-ins by Facebook users in Australia this year, while boy band One Direction was the most-discussed topic on the social network, and the song listened to most often Down Under via the Spotify application on Facebook was “Skinny Love” by Bon Iver, according to Facebook data released exclusively to Herald Sun parent News Ltd.

The Herald Sun pointed out that the only three iconic tourist attractions to crack the top 10 in terms of check-ins were Sydney’s Darling Harbour, Bondi Beach, and the Sydney Opera House, while notable destinations including the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Great Barrier Reef, and Kakadu did not make the cut.

The top 10 Australian locations checked into by Facebook users in 2012 were:

  5. Bondi Beach
